Buying
a Property in Spain
If you are reading this you are probably non-resident in Spain meaning that
you spend less than 183 days here or have your main place of business or employment
in another country. As a non-resident you will require an NIE number which
is a registration number allowing you to purchase property or seek employment
in Spain. The application is a simple process and takes about 3 weeks.
There
are 2 main types of property
Existing
or previously owned and New Properties for first occupation
or in Construction.

With an existing property the costs are much the same apart from IVA (VAT) which becomes transfer tax and is 7%. This information is for general reference
